PANAMA IS THE PLACE TO BE FOR BEACH BLISS, CULTURAL MARVELS AND WATERFALLS.
Central America offers endless waterfalls, beautiful beaches, and rich cultural experiences. It is the ideal destination for vacations. Panama is a great alternative to Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is known for its untamed wildlife, natural beauty, and outdoor activities. But Panama has the same attractions, plus better infrastructure, greater accessibility, and perhaps more beautiful beaches… Not to mention, it’s Central America’s biggest cultural hub.
When you first arrive
Panama City is one of Central America’s most important cultural centers, with a wealth of shopping, markets and restaurants. Casco Viejo, the historic district in the heart of Panama City is a great place to spend a night and explore the cobblestone streets.
Tour the Panama Canal before moving on to the next destination. The city’s only wildlife reserve, Metropolitan National Park has views of the entire city.
Explore The Wild Side
Panama is known for its natural beauty, and jungles cover nearly 40% of the land. Boquete is a charming mountain town located in the west of the country, near the Costa Rican frontier.
Boquete, nestled in a valley surrounded by Chiriqui Highlands and Baru Volcano National Park, is home to coffee plantations. The park is home to the Baru Volcano, a towering volcano that connects Boquete with the town of Cerro Punta. The 9.6-kilometer trail is a great way to appreciate the beauty of the rainforest and, if lucky, you may even see the mythical Quetzal, the most colorful and mythical bird in Central America.
Relax on the powder-white sands
Explore Panama’s beaches and islands before returning to Panama City. Visit the San Blas Islands, located on the northern Caribbean Coast. This idyllic paradise is characterized by powdery white sands and palm trees that sway in the breeze. The islands are easily accessible; they’re only a short flight away from Panama City. There are many other beaches along the southern Pacific Coast, from volcanic beaches to surf spots such as Santa Catalina.
Panama vs. Costa Rica?
If you are torn between Panama or Costa Rica, remember that Costa Rica is the nature lover’s dream, while Panama offers an equal blend of natural adventures, beautiful beaches, and historical and cultural attractions. Spend days in Panama City exploring the centuries-old history, or enjoy the stunning beauty of the Chiriqui Highlands. Or get away from everything in the San Blas Islands. Panama has it all.
