Travel Savings Tips & Cheap Holiday Destinations For Every Budget
Traveling does not have to be expensive. I often hear people say, “I would like to travel too, but I do not have the money …”.” There are several cheap holiday destinations, and there are also many clever ways to reduce the cost of a trip.
It wasn’t always this way. Our passion to travel began when we were both students. We were able to travel cheaply every month thanks to our research and travel saving tips.

This post will tell you not only about cheap vacation destinations, but also how to save money when traveling.
Cheap Holiday Destinations Around the World:
EASTERN EUROPE
Eastern Europe offers a cheaper alternative to popular travel destinations like France, Switzerland, and others. You can find something to suit every taste. The Baltic Sea in Poland is as beautiful as those in the North Seas. However, accommodation and food in Poland are much cheaper than in Germany. You can enjoy the same views as northern Italy in the Tatra Mountains of Slovakia without spending a fortune. There are also fewer tourists. How about a romantic trip to Budapest, the Hungarian capital instead of expensive Paris?
Eastern Europe is usually a better value than other European destinations.
MIDDLE EAST & NORTH AFRICA
Many people travel south to the sun when it becomes cold in Europe. Dubai is a popular destination, but it’s also very expensive. You don’t need to give up the sun, though: Egypt, Tunisia, and Jordan are all cheap holiday destinations.
Egypt and Jordan offer unforgettable experiences for adventurers and explorers.
LATIN AMERICA
Latin America has many affordable holiday destinations. The journey to Latin America can be longer and more expensive. However, if you’re flexible about the time you travel and on the hunt for cheap flight deals (see the tips on saving money), you can always find low-cost flights to Latin America.
Colombia, Mexico and Peru were my favorites. You can find dreamy places for cheap if you avoid tourist destinations such as Tulum and Cancun, Mexico.
SOUTH ASIA
Southeast Asia is a popular destination for backpackers and budget travelers. Stay away from tourist areas to save money. Thailand is my personal favorite cheap Southeast Asian holiday destination. Thailand offers a diverse landscape, fascinating culture and delicious cuisine.
You can also save money by choosing to go to Indonesia, the Philippines, or Myanmar.
Once you reach any South East Asian country, it is easy to jump from one country to another. AirAsia and Tiger Airways, budget airlines such as Cebu Pacific or AirAsia offer flights between capitals of countries for as little as 20EUR.
SAVING TIPS for Cheap Trips
Even cheap destinations offer many options for spending your money.
The application of simple saving tips is more important than choosing the right destination. With a few simple tricks, even supposedly expensive destinations like the Seychelles or Iceland can be made affordable.
FLEXIBILITY UPON ARRIVAL
You are more likely to find a low-cost flight if you have more options when it comes to getting yourself there. Your travel budget will be impacted by the cost of traveling to your cheap holiday destination. It is not uncommon to see large price differences when selecting your departure airport. Each departure airport charges different taxes and fees.
We personally prefer to fly from Prague, Budapest, or Scandinavia, rather than Germany. We can save hundreds of euros by taking the train or short flight in Europe.
You should also be flexible when it comes to your flight dates. You can find out on the booking portal of each airline, like British Airways, what days certain flights are cheapest.

SAVING MONEY WHEN TRAVELING IN THE LOW SEASON
The terms “low season” and “rainy season” are often used to discourage travelers. These less popular seasons are not all bad. You can save money by traveling outside of the peak season.
In the shoulder seasons, such as autumn or spring, the popular hiking trails and viewpoints of Norway are not overcrowded.
Tropical destinations also enjoy the “rainy season”, which is not as popular, but brings with it lush vegetation, waterfalls, and other natural attractions.
The weather can be unpredictable, even in destinations such as the Maldives. We’ve experienced weeks of sunshine in the rainy seasons, and downpours in the dry seasons. There are very few places on earth where you can guarantee good or bad weather.
If you travel during less popular seasons, it is possible to turn an expensive destination into a cheaper holiday destination.
Traveling Local
Some places are expensive due to the prices of restaurants and catering. You can also find affordable accommodation.
Even a destination such as the Seychelles is affordable if you opt for self-catering rather than eating out every day. Most people associate the island paradise with luxury and high prices. While all of these things can be found on the Seychelles island paradise, you can also experience it on a budget.
After arriving in Seychelles, we went to the local supermarket and bought groceries so that we could prepare our own meals and breakfast. We saved almost EUR100 a day per person. We turned an expensive destination into a cheap “do-it-yourself” holiday destination.
Seychelles beaches are open to all, even those in luxury resorts. It means that even if you are on a budget, the experience will not be compromised.
This trick can be used in the Maldives by staying away from luxury resorts, and instead choosing small guesthouses or lodgings on local islands. You can find white beaches, turquoise lagoons, and a variety of sea life everywhere.
Travel Savings Tips for Frequent Travelers
You may be interested in the following tip if you travel frequently, whether for business or pleasure: earning hotel and flight points can help you earn free flights, overnight stays and upgrades. They can also give you discounts, free breakfast and baggage allowances on flights. Registering for loyalty programs and staying loyal to a hotel or airline alliance is worth it.
The oneworld alliance, which includes British Airways (and other airlines such as American Airlines), Iberia (and others), and Qatar Airways has been a great benefit to us. We don’t need to queue at the check-in desks anymore, and we can fly (almost) for free with our flight miles. This feature will keep you safe, whether you are traveling to an expensive destination or a cheaper one.
We have chosen Accorhotels, which are mainly found in Europe and Asia. We enjoy member discounts, upgrades, lounge access, breakfast, and other perks.
These advantages make our travels more enjoyable and save us money. It is a great product that I recommend to everyone.
The Right Credit Card for Your Holiday Trip
You can save money by choosing the right credit cards, especially if your travel is frequent.
We can save money with a good credit card for travel and also enjoy great benefits.
The American Express Platinum is our personal favorite. This card costs 600 euros per year, but with the partner card that comes free, you can get the same benefits for two people. The benefits we receive from the card far outweigh the cost. Travel insurance is included with Priority Pass and covers us and our luggage, as well as rental cars. We also get a travel credit worth 200 euros for flights and hotels. Amex Platinum cardholders also get Hilton Gold status which gives us many hotel benefits. You can read about it above.
Anyone who travels more than twice a month should consider registering for Amex Platinum.
– You will find here our registration link. With this, you will receive 55,000 points as a welcome bonus. These can be used to travel multiple times in Europe or the USA, or to travel Business Class with Iberia from Europe to the USA.
